Art of DER SPIEGEL
Magazine
(German cities / Vienna / New York, 2004 2007)
A
film team from DER SPIEGEL had me filmed during the process of
designing a cover illustration in 2004. Extracts from that
session were used for a SPIEGEL TV video clip which was shown at
the Deichtorhallen museum in an exhibition commemorating 50
years of SPIEGEL cover illustration art.
The
series of exhibitions began in Hamburg and traveled to Berlin,
Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Munich, Stuttgart, Vienna and Basel
before making its final stop at the Museum of American
Illustration in New York.
For over
five decades, DER SPIEGEL has called on the world's best
illustrators to produce the cover art for Germany's largest news
magazine. This collaboration has produced many extraordinary
pieces of art of which 150 were on display.
DER
SPIEGEL is Germany's leading news magazine and the largest in
Europe. The magazine is published every Monday and distributed
in 172 countries. Week after week, an average of 1.1 million
copies are sold. |
