New Art Brochures Are Out

My latest art brochures are ready for download (I also had them printed)!

Oliver’s Year is actually more of a magazine highlighting some of my goings-on from 2011, while the two other smaller-size brochures are showing some of my work in whimsical style and in mixed-media collage style.

Singles Are From Venus, Couples Are From Mars

planets_06

Here’s my latest piece for today’s Welt am Sonntag Sunday newspaper, illustrating the two worlds that people living alone vs. people  engaged in a relationship find themselves in. (I managed to incorporate my mom and my grandma into this image, which is always a treat.)

Mobbing is Killing from the Inside

mobbing_07

This mixed-media artwork was created for an article on mobbing that was published in today’s Welt am Sonntag newspaper from Berlin. It shows a young woman in the center who finds herself getting ostracized and mocked by her peers.

Unsung Heroes

stop-sign_06

These are some of my latest mixed-media installments that I created for Psychologie Heute, Germany’s leading psychology magazine. The article was on heroic behavior in times of egalitarianism.

Cross Country

This animated collage-style illustration for Süddeutsche Zeitung illustrates the topic of cross-country energy distribution, and employs geometrical cut-out shapes dealing with forms of energy and distribution networks. > MORE

Quiet up there!

Here is some mixed-media art that I have come up with for Psychologie Heute, Germany’s leading psychology magazine. The article was on minds that cannot stop pondering. >MORE PSYCHOLOGY

Two-Page Cover Spread for Novum Design Magazine

novum-cover-animals_05_s

I have been invited to create a two-page cover spread for novum – World of Graphic Design magazine, Germany’s oldest graphic arts publication. I employed a mixed-media style to create a city scene that’s abundant with wild animals.

The double cover spread was printed on heavy brown art paper that uses white coating to highlight specific elements. As a result, the art looks quite three-dimensional and almost as if it was assembled by hand – really cool ;-)

World Market Leaders

In another assignment for Süddeutsche Zeitung, I have created a number of illustrations on world market leaders. The four-page extra features interviews with market leaders in a variety of different branches.

I came up with a large splash illo in collage style and a bunch of circle-shaped icons that visualize the various branches (wind turbines, toys, etc.). I also designed colorful silkscreen print emulations of the enterpreneurs that got interviewed. >more

Happy Loners

cocktail-party-loner_c_09

These are my mixed-media illustrations that I created for Psychologie Heute, Germany’s leading psychology magazine. The article was on introspection and analysed the phenomenon of people that tend to separate themselves from the crowds – not because they are shy but because they choose to stay alone.

Vicked Vacuum Cleaner Craze

vacuum-cleaner_06_02

Here’s a quirky mixed-media image that was created for DAS MAGAZIN, a cute little (well, not so little) cultural magazine from Germany, and one of the few East-German publications that managed the transition after the Wall came down. The artwork illustrates a short story about a vacuum cleaner in Berlin gone crazy. Wicked pissah!

The Talking Book

Here’s a fun illo of a talking book. I used the covers and interior spreads of some very old books that I have here for this collage.
