y whimsical-style illustrations take a lighthearted, humorous stance in
visualizing a topic in a sketchy fashion. A variety of books have come out
requesting this approach.
Despite its seemingly naïve first-glance appearance, in the world of editorial
illustration, whimsy isn’t about children, but is geared at grown-ups who
appreciate clever concepts that are also fun to look at.
My client list for work in whimsical style is vast, and includes Random House,
Tesa, City of Munich, Süddeutsche Zeitung, The Christian Science Monitor,
Rowohlt, Ritzenhoff, Deutsche Bank, The Writer, DIE ZEIT, DER SPIEGEL, Campus,
Axel Springer, Gruner+Jahr, Piper, dtv, and Haymarket.
My whimsical art has been recognized by the
Society of Illustrators,
American Illustration, and
Creative Quarterly.
