I have been a regular contributor to Süddeutsche Zeitung from very early on in my career. As of late, artwork I create for this daily paper comes in large size and full color, as opposed to black and white years ago. I am showcasing some of my more recent work here.

Book Series: Library of Humor (Sept 2011)

I have created the cover art for the Süddeutsche Zeitung Bibliothek des Humors (Library of Humor), an edition of 20 all-time favorite humorous novels edited by Süddeutsche Zeitung, Germany's largest newspaper.

Authors for this collection of humor classics by one of the funniest writers today include Woody Allen, Peter Ustinov, P.G. Wodehouse, and Heinrich Böll. >more

This book from Süddeutsche Zeitung Edition publishers is a quirky look on the world of emotions—from pride and revenge to schadenfreude and shame, from bewilderment and desire to voluptuousness and envy. My cover illustration assembles selected emotions from the book in whimsical style. I created 25 two-colored illustrations for the individual chapters on the following topics. >more

This multilayered illustration was created for Süddeutsche Zeitung on the topic of sustainable energy. It's pretty intricate, but you can spot a lighthouse, trees, the sea, a kite, wind generators, a power plant, the sun, and the like.

Feature: Derivatives (June 2011)

In this expansive four-page feature for Süddeutsche Zeitung, I created half a dozen whimsical-style illustrations for a special on derivatives. I decided to stick to black and dark blue for the artwork that includes an info-graphic design explaining what derivatives are.

Here's another multilayered illustration that I created for Süddeutsche Zeitung was for their SZ-Vinothek wine supplement. I again used warm colors and an intricate design for the piece.

This animated collage-style illustration for Süddeutsche Zeitung illustrates the topic of cross-country energy distribution, and employs geometrical cut-out shapes dealing with forms of energy and distribution networks.

This pretty intricate and multilayered illustration for Süddeutsche Zeitung was created for the SZ-Vinothek wine supplement. I used a lot of warm colors to suggest Italy, France, food, sun, coffee etc.

In my latest assignment for Süddeutsche Zeitung, I have composed a cadavre exquis for the career section that runs across a major part of the page.

This formerly surrealist concept works with folded pages; the top parts showing the head of a person or animal, the middle parts the torso, and the bottom parts the legs.

My "exquisite corpse" shown below was designed in a slightly three-dimensional fashion. It consists of a cowboy, a crocodile, a gorilla, a robot, a little boy, a tree, a skirt, and a fish.

In another assignment for Süddeutsche Zeitung, I have created a number of illustrations on world market leaders. The four-page extra features interviews with market leaders in a variety of different branches.

I came up with a large splash illo in collage style and a bunch of circle-shaped icons that visualize the various branches (wind turbines, toys, etc.). I also designed colorful silkscreen print emulations of the enterpreneurs that got interviewed.
